City of Glendale Launches New Facial Covering Campaign

City of Glendale Launches New Facial Covering Campaign

. 2 min read

Glendale, CA— Due to the success of past campaigns utilizing characters created by the City of Glendale to communicate important messages, the City of Glendale has launched a new campaign to further stress the importance of wearing face coverings. The goal of the campaign is to capture the need to wear face coverings to protect each other and allow the Glendale community to get back to business safely. While the primary focus is to gain compliance through education, the message also stresses that people who are not conforming to the Order can face fines.

The City continues to take an aggressive approach to the fight against COVID-19 by enacting strict measures for the use of facial coverings. On April 10, 2020, the City’s Director of Emergency Services issued an Emergency Public Order requiring employees and customers of essential businesses to wear face coverings when engaged in activities at said businesses.

On April 14, 2020, City Council amended the Face Coverings Order to become one of the first municipalities in the region to require that all persons wear face coverings when leaving their places of residence, employment, or otherwise out in public for essential activities. The COVID-19 pandemic is still present in our communities, with cases rising every day. While much is still unknown about the virus, what we do know is that face coverings help slow the spread of COVID-19.

The campaign will move from the virtual world to the physical, as the images will be transferred onto lawn signs, which will be placed throughout the City. They will also be available for residents and businesses who would like to help communicate the importance of wearing facial coverings to keep our community safe and healthy during this unprecedented time.
